Huawei SUN2000-15K-MB0 - Overview
The SUN2000-15K-MB0 is the 15 kW model in Huawei's MB0 residential three-phase hybrid line, which spans 12 to 25 kW. "Hybrid" is the operative word: battery connection is native, not an add-on box, and the unit charges a LUNA2000 stack at up to 21 kW from a single battery string or 25 kW from two. Discharge is the number people actually hit, and on the 15K that's 16.5 kW. For a household heading toward an EV, a heat pump and storage, those two ceilings matter more than the nameplate.
DC Input and String Design
Two MPP trackers accept up to 1,100 V DC. Full-load tracking runs 410 to 800 V, though the trackers themselves work from 200 to 1000 V and the unit wakes at 200 V. Each tracker takes two strings, four inputs in total, at 30 A per tracker for a pair or 20 A for a single string. The high voltage ceiling is the practical win here - it permits long strings on large roofs, which trims DC cable losses and simplifies layout. Two trackers is the one spec where the MB0 looks ordinary; a complex multi-plane roof gets more from four-tracker designs, and I wouldn't pick this unit for a roof carved into four orientations.
Efficiency and Protection
Peak efficiency is 98.4% with a European weighted figure of 98.0% - within a few tenths of anything in the class, which is exactly why efficiency shouldn't drive this decision. The safety package is more distinctive: AFCI arc-fault protection is built in rather than optional, alongside DC reverse-polarity protection, residual current monitoring and Type II surge protection on both DC and AC. The IP66 housing tolerates outdoor mounting, and the -25C to +60C operating range covers real rooftop conditions rather than lab ones. Cooling is fan-assisted, which is worth remembering if the mounting wall backs onto a bedroom - the naturally cooled SUN2000-6KTL-M1 has nothing to hum.
The Ecosystem Question
Nobody buys an MB0 in isolation. It exists to anchor Huawei's residential stack: LUNA2000 S0 and S1 batteries connect natively, the EMMA-A02 energy manager schedules the whole system, and a backup box adds outage supply. The MB0 is also the only Huawei residential inverter that runs four LUNA2000 S1 towers in parallel, which is the route to 82.8 kWh. That integration is the strongest argument for the unit and the fairest criticism of it - you're choosing a vendor, not just an inverter. The counterweight is local data access: production and battery state can be read over Modbus TCP on the local network, so a home automation system gets its numbers without a detour through the manufacturer cloud.
Who Should Buy the SUN2000-15K-MB0
A three-phase home with a 13 to 22 kWp DC array and firm storage plans is the target - Huawei's recommended maximum PV power for this variant is 22,500 Wp, which is a 1.5x oversize on a 15 kW inverter. At 21 kg and 546 x 460 x 228 mm, it hangs as a one-person job with a helper for positioning. EU distributors listed it between EUR 1,884 and EUR 2,350 in September 2026, so it's worth collecting more than one quote.
My opinion: in the three-phase hybrid class, the MB0's battery charging headroom and built-in AFCI make it one of the most complete single-box choices, and the honest trade is ecosystem commitment. If open third-party pairing matters more to you than integration, a Fronius plus Tigo layout is the opposite philosophy.
