1. Who We Are
Accelerate Solar (accelerate-solar.com) is an independent publisher of solar PV optimization guides and product reviews. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to Accelerate Solar. For questions about this policy, contact us at editorial@accelerate-solar.com.
2. Data We Collect
We collect two categories of data when you visit this site:
2.1 Analytics data (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors interact with our content. GA4 collects:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Referring website or search query that brought you to the site
- Browser type, operating system, and approximate geographic region (country/city)
- Events such as clicks on outbound links
This data is processed by Google and stored on Google's servers. We do not enable advertising features or User-ID tracking. IP addresses are anonymized by default in GA4. Google's data processing is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
2.2 Cookies
GA4 sets first-party cookies (prefixed _ga) to distinguish unique visitors
and sessions. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information.
Cookie lifespan: _ga persists for 13 months; session cookies expire when
you close your browser.
We do not use any other tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party cookies beyond those set by GA4.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing analytics data is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding how our content is used so we can improve it. We have assessed that this interest is balanced against your right to privacy, given that:
- No advertising profiles are created
- IP addresses are anonymized
- You can opt out at any time (see Section 6)
4. Affiliate Links
Some product pages contain affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a
purchase, we may receive a small commission from the retailer at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate links are marked with rel="nofollow sponsored". We do not share
your purchase data with third parties. The retailers' own privacy policies govern any data
they collect after you follow a link.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties except as described in this policy (Google Analytics processing described above). We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.
6. Your Rights & Opt-Out
Under GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based
To opt out of Google Analytics tracking, you can install the
Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on,
or use your browser's private/incognito mode. You can also delete existing _ga
cookies via your browser settings.

7. Data Retention
GA4 analytics data is retained for 14 months by default, after which it is automatically deleted from Google's servers. We do not maintain any separate database of visitor records.
8. Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
